What's going on?

What an incredible concert!

Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas took the audience on quite the adventure last night! So glad to have spent some time after the show with Alasdair talking about his ‘99 recording with Tony McManus “Return to Kintail” -one of my all time inspirational favorites!

Less than 2 weeks away!

Practically in my own backyard! I’ll be paying homage to one of the great collaborations known to jazzkind! I write the posts, I get to make up the words 😎. Owner/proprietor Philleppe does a great job with the menu. From bar food to more eclectic entrées. Thanks to curator Dave Kaspar for keeping jazz alive and well in CNY! Be sure to make a reservation -fills up fast.

Get to Parthenon Books this Friday, Aug 18th, 6:00 pm. 335 S. Salina St. downtown Syracuse! Not just for some great music but more importantly for a Q&A with author Mike Streissguth about his new book “Highways and Heartaches: How Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart and Children of the New South Saved the Soul of Country Music” (Hachette Books). A cultural history set in the country and bluegrass world of the 1970s, the book tracks two child prodigies growing up in the strange and vibrant music industry of the South on their way to becoming influencers in the roots-based Americanca movement. I’ll be playing with The Cadley’s from 6:00-6:30 with Q&A to follow!
